A small canvas which i have used wax in this one. I also stamped into the hot wax, which i liked the result, quick and nice texture. I do not own a melting pot and applied the clear wax with my encaustic iron.

This was a domino i started a few months back and had put it to one side with some others i was not quite happy with. Well i have run out of domino's, so i decided to re use some of my older ones.
This one has alcohol inked background and the charms on the domino were part of a necklace that i dismantled and then glazed them onto the domino. As i have also run out of necklaces to hang the domino's i made a wire choker and added a few twists in it for decoration.

I bought this for less than a quid and then it was battered,red and grey.
First i sanded it down, painted it with textured paint in pale blue,painted grassy effect around the bottom, stuck on plastic like flowers and edged the roof with beads and inked edges and varnished with a matt varnish to finish..............just need to find the right sized bung for bottom,so monies will not fall out.

Two atc's the bird one is for a weekly challenge over on MAMMA's site at Flicker. The bird is collaged stuck onto one of my encaustic paintings(have since added more feathers to him) and the other is just an Oriental themed atc because i had an oriental moment.

Matchbox window shrine

I did this today, it's a matchbox window shrine for a challenge on another site. Behind what you can see is a matchbox (7cms x 4cms) a tad bigger than the smallest mathcbox but it's all that i had! It has an acetate window with a altered domino inside- it ended up being quite tall by the time i had finished, once i added the roof part.
Really enjoyed doing this and may, may just make another.

Well, so far I am sticking to my new years resolution and doing some blogging.

I have been busy, have joined 2 new groups on Flicker MAMMA and LOL MAMMA. Great groups and has really helped me kick my lack of inspiration!!

I am doing a heart theme challenge for LOL and have been doing thank you cards and thank you ATC's for all the lovely handmade gifts I received for my birthday last week.

I have also had time to play with my new alcohol inks by Tim Holtz but sadly have run out of domino's at this time but am on the hunt for a new supplier.

Yesterday i turned 40 and really had been dreading it! But despite that i had brilliant day all in all.

I received some wonderful hand crafted gifts from my very generous crafting friends (pics to follow) I got a CD, that i wanted, a mug with the inscription "I'm not 40 I'm 18 with 22 years experience"- i love that, thanks sis. A beautiful chunky silver necklace from my mum and dad and money(and they took us all out for a meal),chocs and more money from my sis and family, a bottle of nice red wine from friends in France, some more money from another friend(already spent that) and a memory foam mattress from another good friend and some smellies from my kids.Spoilt rotten i would say.

All i have to do is remember it is just a number!!!

Ok i shall take pics of crafting buddies goodies later when light is better

Just popping in to say hello.
Have been lucky enough to receive some birthday money early :)...............
and yep, you guessed it already spent it,well it had to be done or else it would have ended up going into the house...........I ended up getting a pair of trousers,4 tops and had enough money left for some Encaustic paper and wax, some spring papers,some keyring findings for domino keyring, Tim Holtz alchol ink-pitch black and some brown and black leather thong for jewelry making, being a bit of a bargain hunter i think i did very well with 40 quid!!!!!

Well i am in process of making a 60th bday card and also a domino necklace for myself as i am going out on the razzle dazzle tomorrow evening with friends........if i rememeber will post pics!

Hello, not bad twice in a week now.

Well the new year is here and to be honest, i always get a little sad this time of year, all that preparing and worrying about pressies and food and also the fact that it means i am nearly another year older! This year no exception as it's the big 40 and i really don't want to be 40, i am hanging on to my 30's for dear life hehehe.

They say " Life begins at 40......does it?"

Well have beaded up a domino and in the process of making a good friend of mine a key ring for his new car. I found it hard to do a masculine one but hope that this will be okay for him.

Happy new year everyone. I am going to try and post on here at least once a week, well that's my new years resolution any way! Only made that one, keeping it simple this year, not going to promise myself to lose a stone in weight and pack up the fags.....it will happen when it happens.

I got some lovely things for Christmas including a dremel type tool and some alcohol inks and the blending solution-yummy. Managed to play around with then for a couple of days over the holidays and really liking the alcohol inks and the effects you can get.

Have been trying to decorate whole house before the Christmas period gets here and my last room to do is my girls bedroom-they have asked for browns and creams and they asked if i would do some artwork on their walls-so decided to do some floral designs to go with colours of the walls. They like it but i have another wall to paint and lots of sanding to do yet.

This is my last piece for the jigsaw jam swap, this is for Sheila and she asked for homespun/shabby/rustic in pale blues,creams and greens. I have to say I struggled with this theme but think it's cute!

Next project is our groups christmas suprise ATC pressie swap.

Jig saw Jam swap

I am doing a jigsaw jam swap for a group i belong to.
The first piece is for Cindy (see blog list) and she asked for "things with wings" as her theme and with the colours turquoise,greens and golds.

This piece is for Sherry and she asked for "folk art Christmas" In reds,greens and gold....... i think- i have to say i struggled a bit with this theme but hope it's OK.

This piece is for Wendy who chose "Oriental" in blues and golds- oriental theme is one of my favourite themes.

This piece is for Viv,who chose"time" as her theme in golds and bronze's.........

This is one of my pieces and i chose a theme of "floral" in golds,browns and creams and i wanted it done in a contemporary style....I have to say it does look better in the flesh-my camera work is rubbish!

When all the pieces that i have sent out to the other 5 ladies are done and returned i will decorate a canvas and decorate it the joined up jigsaw pieces.....I love doing these and am amazed at how each individual jig saw pieces blend so well together!!!

I shall upload the finished article when it is completed but it wont be for a few weeks yet.

Hello all
Well at long last I finally have Internet indoors-ya. It's not until you dont have it, you realise how dependant you are on it!!
Have been busy in my new garden and as yet no decorating has been done as next Monday we are having double glazing fitted, so it would be pointless decorating before having windows done!!!
I shall post pictures of house, as I have been clicking away whilst we have been doing this and that......After checking all my emails and face book notifications I shall be up and running with some latest art and craft stuff

Sorry it's been so long olks

Hello my friends, well it's been a long time since Ihave updated my blog. Life has been a bit hectic with work and moving from Scotland back to Devon!
We move into our own place wednesday 24th of this month(next wednesday) YAY, then perhaps after I have unpacked,cleaned and done the garden,things may get back to normal,what ever that may be lol.
I have so missed adding to my blog but I shall be back soon in about 3 weeks.
Not done much craft,only a few cards and have ben itching to do so- my new place has a garage attached and I am trying to keep that for me!
Right this is only a quickie to say I am alive a bit slimmer and raring to get on !!

Well it's been a busy time for me, as we are moving back to Devon 12th July, which is only next saturday. I have been up to my neck in it with sifting,sorting,cleaning and packing!

The show went really well although I could not get to take pics as I was out the back doing hair,make-up and costumes, I have a friend who did take some good pics and is putting them on a disc fro me, sadly I will only be able to show you me and the teachers but not pics of the kids,even if I faze out there faces but the teachers have no qualms with being added to my blog.

This evening I am out with the teachers from my sons school and we are going to Carlisle ten pin bowling,should be a good laugh as there are about 24 of us all together, I hear they are a hoot out on a night out and am def taking my camera!! Theme night too at bowling! lol

Well the variety show is nearly here,dress rehersal on monday and the show is the friday after! Almost finished my outfit, not that I ever intended to make one for me but got talked into it and now feeling a tad bashful about it. My daughter took this pic of me in said outfit- a halter top and A line skirt,made out of local newspaper and lots of duck tape and covered with masking tape. The skirt now has dark brown ribbon roses on it to match the top and so do my shoes, have found a brown felt bag and added a ribbon rose to that,the hat is also a little different as I have now added newspaper to that to and is drying out in my shed-ohh what have I let myself in for????

Well I enjoyed making the brown and gold dominoe tin clock so much, that I have decided to do another and also have ideas for more but will need to invest in some clock workings.
This one I am working on is blue and silver and very feminine!! Ohh la la........I am doing a craft fayre in July,so these shall add to my items for sale.

I bought a jungle clock to make kit, from a charity shop and it cost £1.50 ages ago. I have been itching to use the parts and bits from it to make other stuff with all the goodies inside.
I have done lots of altered dominoes of late and kept( never throw anything away me) the tins they come in. So have been thinking what can I do with this and this and decided to make a dominoe tin clock!
Painted tin in a suede effect brown-and so far edged it in gold and figured out how to attach clock bit, not hard at all!
Just thought I would show you all what I have done so far, it is far from finished but this is my first altered clock and wanted to share it with you because I am like a big kid!

These are some of the dominoes I made on Friday,whilst demonstrating to the French kids, from my son's school. These are a few of the 70 odd dominoes I drilled in preparation for this demonstration.
The kids loved it and ended up making about three each and where raving about it.Even their teachers asked if they could do one too!
It was nice to see that some did different things and a few of them hand painted the Scottish flag on theirs.

I have a busy week ahead of me this week,at school still doing costumes and this week,we are going to practise strutting our stuff on the stage. I am also in middle of decorating and also hubby is 40 at the weekend,so trying to plan a surprise BBQ-which will be a hard one as he is off on Friday,Saturday, Sunday AND Monday!!!

Made a pendant hanger last night-which is, some branches cut from one of my bushes and painted it gold-drilled holes in side of branches and posted through silver heavy duty wire-painted a red box-which cost 25p from Tescos,in gold and silver and weighted bob down with odds and sods.

I might have mentioned earlier that I am helping out with my sons shchool's varity show-managed to take 2 pics before batteries died

The dress was donated to school and i have made pink and white tissue paper flowers and stapled them on top of the netting which is over the dress. The from and ice cream tub i covered with crepe paper and stuffed with a tesco carrier and made more pink and white flowers and a few green tissue paper leaves andadded some bright pink feathers and also ppe cleaner handle.

Bernie Berlin-gesso and magazine image tecnique

I belong to a yahoo group and the latest tutorial was the Bernie Berlin gesso and magazine image tecnique.

You take an image from magazine but I believe you can use all sorts of images from other places,adhere the image to card stock (I used pva) Gel medium was the desired stuff to use but i had none!.....wait to dry,then using white gesso(I used weak white emulsion) paint over image in a criss cross fashion and let dry. Once dry use perm marker/pen pencil to sketch over lines and add on what else you would like add to your artwork............You can then use pastels-paints-pencils-chalks to colour your new image and your imagination can go wild!

Well folks for the past two nights I have been to my craft table and just stood there looking at the stuff on table~~~~~I think I have crafters block, I mean I want to be creative but just don't know what!

I moved my encaustic art box into the lounge and it's sat there on coffee table just waiting and it's still waiting for me to do something with it.

I did my garden this afternoon and managed to take some pics of some beautiful flowers, with the intentions of using them as inspiration for some encaustic art work.

Well not made one of these for a while- but did this last night!

Paint effect background in sage green and gold, stamped foam embellishment,acetate dragonfly,doubled up to make it 3d and beads dangling from stamped phone.Hand written fly away and i went over it with 3d gloss.Ohh and black beads for eyes!

Forgotten how enjoyable these were! :)

Well after getting back from gardening, my friend has text me twice and I rang her this evening and sang "Happy Birthday" to her (oh poor Jill) lol.
She loved her card and pressie-PHEW!

Have found a car (our old one died two weeks ago) and can pick it up on Thursday-yay, it means I can have my car back and not have to keep asking for lifts for my son to get home!!( thanks Penny)

I will be at son's school all day tomorrow,getting organised for end of year variety show-not been there in three weeks due to holiday,no car and lack of inspiration and motivation! But things looking up a little(dare I say it) so will let you know how I go after tomorrow!

I kind of talked one of my crafting buddies to do a MB shrine swap with me, going on holiday soon ,so thought I had better crack on any how! Did not have a theme,just went through my stamps and picked one at random and this is what I have made. Paula I hope you like it.

The brown tray again was mahogany and a similar process was done as the black one, only I stippled on a paint effect this time and used a different napkin.

The vase or utilty holder was a bargain from a charity shop and looked a bit boring just plain, so I chose a napkin and added it to the piece to give it some character.

This tray was originally a mahogany coloured tray
Not being a lover of mahogany(sorry for all of you that do ) I decided to alter it.It was sanded down to bare wood,painted with gold,then painted with crackle glaze and over painted with black. I then varnished it twice and then added the napkin art or otherwise known as decoupage. Red,gold and black is such a sexy combination of colours and I love poppies. After another couple of coats of varnish,this project was finished. I hang it on a wall above a door frame in my kitchen.

Have just been onto a friends blog and she is also busy (Margaret Field, see my link list) and she has not been able to craft much these days,so she is showing older stuff. This has given me an idea,later I shall take pics and show you the stuff I did a couple of years ago.
That's about it for now, doing stuff tomorrow and decorating Tuesday,so might,might get to do some craft stuff Tuesday evening or Wednesday.

Well still decorating around my pals house! But finally we look like we are winning!
I reckon another two more days and we shall be almost finished. Looks much better.
Got a class on Friday and not sure what to do as yet. My craft table does not know whats hit it as it's been a few days since I have sat my butt down to craft, got the urge to do domino's but they will have to wait a little longer!
So I shall say good bye for now.

Thursday-decorating day

Today I am off round a friends house to help her decorate, any excuse to wield a paint brush I say! So no crafting today nor probably tomorrow.
We are going to attempt the downstairs hallway and two small bedrooms downstairs. Magnolia walls and some white gloss work, just to freshen things up,oh and doing the ceilings too,so I shall have more white in my hair lol, at least I don't need a ladder or chair to reach,being tall does have it's bonuses,sometimes.
Right she will be here in a moment to got o town to pick up materials, so I shall say bye for now. Jinny x

It has been a beautiful day here in Scotland today,so decided the garden needed doing! I have been itching to cut my grass and give it a general tidy for weeks now but with the sun out and hubby having a day off-job done!

Also managed to tidy and clean my craft area-that pastel dust gets everywhere! Although I dare say it will not last for long,it never does.

This evening I have been doing a bit of sketching and colouring, I have a fear of doing faces and people and animals,so thought it time I bit the bullet and at least tried. Not happy with the charcoal pic of woman but quite please with the childs eye. You know what they say prctise,practise,practise!

Good morning all,well today I am taking my son with me to my friends. Her youngest son and Harry are friends from school and seeing as they are on half term,thought it would do Harry good to go somewhere different.
They can play,mean while Jill and myself can play in her studio! YAY.
Think today will be pastels,she is going to give me a master class, she is a very talented artist. (although she would not agree)
My girls will be staying home and on "Snoop" watch as I would not dare leave him on his own as he has taken a liking to my chair legs! Poor chair legs.
Will be doing the usual h*%£*%"*k this morning and hope it is tidy when I get back-yeah right! lol
On that score I am off to empty the dishwasher and chuck in another load of washing. Wont get any washing dry outside today as weather looks miserable!
Ohh forgot to say I am working on a secret project,all will be revealed soon! So make sure you come back to check what I am up too.

Kids on half term and dog sitting

Afternoon all,as mentioned in title my clan are on half term,well my two younger ones,eldest still has to go to college and I am dog sitting for my niece!

His name is "Snoop" I keep calling him Snoopy and a few other choice names besides hehehe.He is 15 weeks old and a fluff ball of legs and is on the go the whole time! He also still likes to do his doings indoors,so my mop is taped to my hand lol and disinfectant in my back pocket! Last night I ended up sleeping on the sofa as he would not settle, I was up at 5am but did end up going back to bed for a few extra hours.

My dog"Patch" however is not impressed hehehe as the pup is always at him and as Patch is nearly three an old man in comparison lol.

I manged to do a couple of pastels last night and also there is a picture of a frog-this little cheeky chappy climbed out of my watering can,whilst hubby and me where fixing a lose tile on the back step-it looked like he was thinking" Whats all the noise about,I am trying to kip in here,keep it down "lol so I grabbed my camera and took a quick pic of him(or her)

I have been busy cleaning upstairs this morning and washing.....Might get back to my table later but seriously doubt it,with this little bundle of fluff-into everything....Oh yeah he got here yesterday and I had not long changed my bedding and he decided it needed changing again by peeing on it, I was not impressed but my kids and nieces kids thought it highly amusing!!

Love Fridays really as it's off to school in afternoons,to help out. Today I teamed up with ma pal Jill,her group and mine did pastel work,unfortunately I did not get to play with the pastels but the kids produced some great pieces. They did three colours and rubbed together to make a sunset/sunrise and then added some black mountains.Jill brought in some old mounts and we mounted up their work,very impressive stuff too.
Now time to think about dinner, got chicken cooking but not sure what to do with it yet...ooh woe is me lol
My kids as of today are now on a two week half term...I say again ooh woe is me lol.
My friend from Devon was supposed to be coming today but due to unforeseen circumstances is now sadly not coming... OOH WOE IS MOI :{
Well I shall say toddle pip for now,might have more artwork to show you as weekend progresses but no promises.

Spent the first part of the day around a good friends(Jill) and we sat and drank tea and went through some Sotherby's(sp) books, looking at different artists work. It inspired me that much I came home and got out my pastels and did this little ditty. I was given a print today by the artist Donald Ayres,he did not give me it himself lol but said friend did as I thought this little postcard was very pretty. I like the softness of pastels but have not studied this medium in great detail. Off to hunt out some more pastels,as I know I have some more.

Wax Tulips

Did this painting,this afternoon, the background is painted with a pearly glaze and metallic blue,to give a sky impression and then I have painted on the tulips in wax, with a stylus and my new heat gun.It's not a huge canvas about 10"x 5"

Snow, snow everywhere

Went out up in the hills today as we knew snow was up there. Only takes about 15 mins to drive there and it's nice to drive away from the snow too.Took Patch our dog and we had been walking ,down near some old mining land and he trots up to us blood everywhere, the poor bugger had (we think) knocked his nose and given him a nose bleed but there was so much blood, I panicked.....Rushed him back to car and half way back it stopped,panic over,get near the car and he sneezes and it starts up again......Panic again as loads more blood but he's ok now no more blood since we have been home.it really scared me as Patch is like one of the kids to us. Animals and kids ayy-who'd av em? lol

Had a play today, the necklace is stazon ink pad, with chinese stamp and gold heat embossed. The other dominoe has been done with encaustic and then blown and played about with the stylus.......I think the encaustic one resembles a skull face! spooky.
